It is projected that the global population will reach approximately 9.7 billion by the year 2050, necessitating an equivalent increase in food production. Concurrently, climate change is a pressing concern that leads to abiotic stresses, such as drought and salinity, which pose significant threats to crop productivity. These challenges have spurred interest in the use of microorganisms to mitigate the negative effects of abiotic stress in crop plants, and this approach appears to be a promising solution for the future. The present work sheds light on the role of various microbial groups in alleviating abiotic stress in plants.
