The readers will get knowledge about seeds, science and technology involved in this subject. Seeds are fertilised mature ovules shaped through sexual reproduction in plants. It is the cheapest and key input in agriculture. It is estimated that good quality seeds of improved varieties can contribute about 20-25% increase in yield. Seed technology is an interdisciplinary science, involves such activities as variety development, evaluation and release seed development, seed processing, seed storage, seed testing, seed certification, seed quality control and seed marketing etc., through which the genetic and physical characteristic of seeds could be improved. Each topic was discussed in separate chapter and this book will prove extremely useful to its readers.

M. Jayanthi, did Ph.D (Seed Science and Technology) from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She has published 15 research paper and 5 book chapters. She also attended International Training conducted by International Seed Testing Association at Zurich, Switzerland. Now, she is working as Senior Research Fellow at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. S. Sumathi, completed her M.Sc.(Ag), Ph.D. in Seed Science and Technology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, India. At present she is working as Research Associate in same university. She has published 15 research papers in national and international journals and authored in 10 book chapters. B. Venudevan, did Ph.D (Seed Science and Technology) from TNAU, Coimbatore. He is a Recipient of the UGC fellowship for Ph.D thesis work. Published 12 research papers authored 3 books and 11 book chapters. Specialized in medicinal plant seed production. Presently working as Assistant Professor (SST), Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, TNAU, Killikulam.
