The present manual book, titled General English, is specifically designed for use as a textbook in undergraduate degree programs offered by agricultural and technical universities and colleges. It is essential for students to invest a considerable amount of time in learning English and its fundamentals, as language plays a crucial role in both professional and daily life.

The General English manual book is an introductory guide that covers all aspects of English grammar and language basics. Its objective is to assist students who are pursuing courses in English or facing language-related challenges. The book provides comprehensive knowledge on the aforementioned topics and helps students communicate effectively in the language. It comprises a total of eighteen chapters, followed by sample papers, and each chapter includes exercises that allow students to test their knowledge and comprehension of the topics covered.

The book is systematic and logical, and the language used is simple and easy to understand. Jargon and technical terms have been omitted to make the book accessible to all readers. This manual book is designed to upgrade the language and communication skills of the readers by providing clear and concise explanations of complex language concepts, English grammar, and phonology. The primary purpose of this book is to meet the needs of the student community who lack English grammar and communicative skills.

Punam  Pandey  is  working  as  an  Assistant  Professor  of  English  in  the Department of Basic and Social Sciences at Banda University of Agriculture and Technology Banda  (UP). She  has  more  than  12 years of  teaching  experience in English language and literature. Prior to the present service, she served the JRD University, Chitrakoot also. Her specialization is in the areas of ELT, Post colonial Studies, British Literature and Indian Writing in English. She has supervised Ph.D. and M Phil., and  has completed one minor research project approved by UGC on Shobha De.

She has authored six books. She has published more than 47 research papers in journals of national and international repute.
