Prof. (Dr.) Sankar Kr Acharya, former Head, Dept. of Agril Extension and Director, Extension Education, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, WB, born on 6th October, 1960, started his career as Assistant Professor at BCKV in 1988 and has been in teaching, research and extension over 34 years. An erudite teacher as well as an elegant speaker, is internationally acclaimed for his unique research domain of Social Entropy and Energy Metabolism, Social Ecology and Environmental Sociology, Enterprise Ecology Framework, Farm Stewardships: The Transition from Conservation, Technology Socialization Process, and The Social Ecology of Livelihood, which have got tremendous policy as well as scholastic importance. Mr. Sarup Chettri, born on July 20, 1998, in the picturesque town of Darjeeling, is a dedicated scholar in the field of agriculture. He earned his B.Sc. Agriculture Hons degree from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, showcasing a profound commitment to the agricultural sciences. Furthering his academic journey, Sarup pursued an M.Sc. in Agriculture with a specialization in Agriculture Extension Education. His research expertise came to the forefront through a thesis centered on the "Application of Mental Modeling in assessing and delineating the Social Ecology of Migration in Darjeeling." This work not only demonstrated his academic prowess but also showcased a keen interest in understanding the intricate dynamics of social ecology in his hometown. He had his M Sc.(Ag.) dissertation guided by Prof S K Acharya, the eminent professor of Extension Science in India. Sarup Chettri's academic achievements and research focus highlight his passion for contributing to the agricultural and social development of the Darjeeling region.
Mr. Monirul Haque, born on 9th December 1995, in Falakata of Jalpaiguri district, which is presently in Alipurduar district of West Bengal, obtained his B.Sc. (Agriculture) Honours from Palli Siksha Bhavana (Institute of Agriculture), Visva-Bharati, Sriniketan, West Bengal, in the year 2017. He obtained his M.Sc. (Ag.) in Agricultural Extension in the Department of Agricultural Extension from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Mohanpur, West Bengal, in the year 2019. He qualified the National Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor conducted by UGC and ICAR-ASRB in his very first attempt in the year 2019. Additionally, he has published several research articles in reputable journals. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Agricultural Extension at the same university under the supervision of Prof. S.K. Acharya. He has been awarded the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students to support his doctoral degree program
