The Book “Food Packaging & Safety Regulations” is focused on the various regulatory aspects related to food packaging. It covers wide range of packaging types and materials such as paper, metal, glass, plastic and their impact, hazards, safety concerns.
It provides an insight about some recent updates to food packaging laws & regulations that may be useful and also provide an updated knowledge about the subject matter. It gives an overview of the food safety & standards, safety measures, Packaging designs, potential hazards & emerging trends in Food packaging.
Dr. Tanweer Alam is presently working as an Additional Director & Regional Officer - Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Delhi, an autonomous Institute under Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India. He is a member of Scientific Committee of Sustainable Packaging, FSSAI. He is also chairman; member of various Technical and Sectional Committees of BIS, CHD 16, CHD 15 & FAD 6. He was Rapporteur in FSSAI - Packaging Regulations. Dr. Alam is an Editior - in - Chief of Journal of Packaging Technology and Research (Springer Publication) and Associate Editor of Journal of Postharvest Technology and Asian Journal of Dairy and Food Research. He is also Editor of Packaging India, a Bimonthly Institutional Magazine and is in Editorial Board of Processed Food Industry. He has guided 5 Ph.D and a dozen of Post Graduate Students. He has been a Mentor for INSA ; ICAR Fellows as well. Dr. Alam has published more than 100 research and technical papers in high impact referred journals, apart from delivering several invited lectures both in India and abroad. Spearhead for receiving 21 design patent, 1 granted Indian Patent and filed 3 Indian Patents.
So far, he has published five books on Packaging and Edited dozens of Proceedings, Annual Reports, Vision Documents and Technical Souvenir. He was also the board member of World Packaging Organization (WPO) and Asia Packaging Federation (APF) and has worked as guest faculty at University of Copenhagen, Denmark under faculty exchange programme funded by European Union (EU). Dr. Alam has been a National Fellow of NADSI. He has been a jury member for Asia Star Award. Dr. Alam has organized more than 50 conferences / workshops of National / International stature (Asia Packaging Congress & Research Conclave, ISPI etc.) for promoting packaging and has received several awards and appreciations amongst which Exhibition and Business Excellence Award 2023 given by MSME Global Conference in the recent one. He is spearhead in taking initiative for commencing Six Months Online Certificate Programme on “Packaging & Processing of Fragrance, Flavour & Cosmetics. Dr. Alam is representing as a governing board member FFDC, Kannauj apart from APEDA; GS1. He is also the COURT member of prestigious Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). He has introduced BS and MS course in Packaging Technology and CPE course in IIP.
